A Decade of Winter

"Fine Art Captured from Inside a 1969 Single-Wide Trailer"

The Story Behind the Window

For over ten years, while winter swept across the Adirondacks, a quiet, extraordinary world was unfolding right on windows.

Living in a 1969 single-wide trailer meant enduring bone-chilling cold and fierce winter storms. But where most saw freezing drafts and harsh weather, I saw an ever-changing canvas. Every winter, moisture, air pressure, and freezing temperature combined to paint intricate, fleeting frost landscapes across the glass panes. Ferns of ice, crystalline feathers, galactic swirls, and glowing textures illuminated by the light.

Rather than looking past the glass beyond, I turned my camera toward the window frame itself.

Over a decade of patience, macro photography, and frozen days became The Adirondack Ice Series: a limited fine art collection celebrating the quiet beauty found in the most unexpected places. No two frosts are ever identical, and no two prints can ever be recreated.

I find profound beauty in what time makes & takes away. The Adirondack Ice Series is macro photography of frost grown on the single-pane windows of my 1969 trailer. Patterns that form once, hold the morning light, & melt away forever. I adjust color gently & tidy the window's edges, but the ice is never altered. Every print records the real date, temperature, & place it grew, in limited editions of ten.

I hold reverence for the local, the fleeting, & the honest.

The Adirondack Ice Series: Art That Grew on My Windows

Every winter for over a decade, something extraordinary has happened on the single-pane glass of my windows in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains.

On the coldest nights ice begins to grow. Feathers, pines, meadows, mountain ridges. No two patterns are ever alike, and none of them last. Each one grows once, catches the morning light for a few short hours, and melts away forever.

I started photographing them the way I photograph people: up close, honestly, and before the moment is gone. For years, I was the one out there at sunrise with a macro lens and numb fingers, capturing art that no one else would ever see. Art that nature made once and would never make again.

The Adirondack Ice Series is that collection. Every print is recorded with the date and temperature. Because these aren't designs. They're moments. Real days, real cold, real light.

Each image in Series One is a limited edition of just 10.

Once they're gone, they're gone — exactly like the ice itself.
